For the choreographer Emi Miyoshi, collaboration with installation and audiovisual artists has opened up new possibilities and forms of fusion of dance and art.
That is what led you to found the SHIBUI collective.
The collective has made it its leitmotif to expand the possibilities of expression and imagination through cross-genre cooperation over the years - always based on dance as the starting medium, as the "leading form" of expression.
For each project, dancers and guest artists from different genres are invited and a collaboration with dance is sought in order to perform a joint work.
Shibui is a Japanese word that refers to the aesthetics of simple, humble and rare beauty - but a beauty that can offend and leave a bitter aftertaste and goes against the short-lived trend.
It contains the maturity and complexity, the patina that only time can bring, like a fine quality wine. “Shibui” objects have a story that they tell.
The SHIBUI collective has set itself the goal of finding forms of expression that are tasteful and entertaining, yet have a bitterness or unexpected astringency in them.
